PROUDLY retired, U.S. Navy Signalman having served on three U.S. Naval Destroyer's, the USS Morton, DD-948, USS Porterfield, DD-682, the USS Agerholm, DD-826 and
one Battlewagon, the USS New Jersey, BB-62 during the Vietnam War ... The three Navy Destroyers, were home-ported at 32nd Street Naval Base, San Diego, California and
assigned to Commander Destroyer Squadron V ... I retired from the U.S. Navy in 1989 with a total of 27 years of service ... I miss so very much, steaming past Point Loma and
sailing on God's majestic oceans of the world.
I can imagine a no more rewarding career, and any man who may be asked
in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with
a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy'
